Louis Oosthuizen Will Not Be Your 2010 Masters Champion

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen won Wednesday’s Masters Par-3 Contest and came within a stroke from tying a course record. He might want to hold off celebrating, however, as the Par-3 is a Masters precursor with a capital “curse”:

↵No player has ever won the Masters Par-3 Contest and gone on to win the Masters in the same year, a half-century curse dating to Sam Snead’s victory in the 1960 inaugural par-3 event.↵The prize for this event should be the antithesis of a green jacket. Red legwarmers? Orange footie pajamas?
