Both the men’s and women’s Virginia lacrosse teams were in action this weekend for the first time since the Yeardley Love tragedy. While both moved forward and began NCAA Tournament play, both teams also made sure to honor Love and keep her at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
Virginia Lacrosse Gets Back To Winning
↵↵The men’s players wore warm-up shirts with “One Love” on the back. The women’s team wore shirts under their jerseys with the phrase “One Team. One Heart. One Love.” Love’s mother was in attendance at the game Sunday.
↵The women’s team also wore black patches on the front of their jerseys with the word “LOVE” in white letters. Towson was UVa.‘s “enemy” on the field, but just barely: its players wore orange wristbands with “Y.L.” in dark blue.
↵↵The men’s team cruised to victory 18-4 over Mount Saint Mary’s and the women’s team outlasted Towson 14-12. Both advanced to the Quarterfinals. No matter how far both of them advance, you can bet they’ll be thinking of Love the whole way through.
