The man who knocked German captain Michael Ballack out of the World Cup has issued apologized.
Boateng Apologizes To Ballack For Tackle
Kevin-Prince Boateng’s tackle on the Chelsea midfielder during Saturday’s FC Cup final caused ligament damage in the German international’s right ankle. Ballack has since been ruled out for two months, meaning he will miss this summer’s World Cup.
Boateng has come under heavy criticism from German officials for the nature of the tackle, and Ballack’s agent Michael Becker has gone so far as to accuse Boateng for acting premeditation:
However, Ballack’s agent Michael Becker says legal action could yet be taken against Boateng, adding angrily: “Every spectator could see what Boateng has done and that was clearly a premeditated foul,” said Becker.
“It is not possible that somebody breaks the rules with the intent to cause injury.
“The football field is not outside the law, even if Boateng believes that.”
Boateng, who played for Germany at the junior levels, has now apologized for his tackle.
“All I can do is apologise,” Boateng told Sport Bild magazine. “I was just too late and I hit him straight on.
“It looked stupid. I apologised to him twice on the field and now for a third time. I am sorry. It was not intentional.”
