Seahawks GM John Schneider released a statement accompanying the formal release of RB LenDale White. The statement suggests the release wasn’t completely performance-related.
Seahawks GM: ‘LenDale White Was Not Ready To Be A Seahawk’
“It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks,” Seahawks G.M. John Schneider said in the team’s statement. “It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future.”
The words “was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks” suggests something else might be going on. By all accounts, White was taking football -- and just as importantly, his weight -- more seriously. After having weight concerns his first few years in the league, he trimmed down to 219 pounds and reportedly wanted to gain upwards of 10 pounds to be at a comfortable playing weight.
Somehow I don’t think we’ve heard the end of this story.
