The Toronto Maple Leafs named Dion Phaneuf team captain on Monday afternoon at a press conference at Air Canada Centre. Joined by former Leaf captains Wendel Clark, Darryl Sittler and George Armstrong, Phaneuf became the 22nd player to be honored with the position.

The real news of the day, however, was the new uniforms the Leafs unveiled. They’re bringing back horizontal striping across the bottom of the jersey, they’ve added a white collar, and a patch now adorns the shoulder as well.
