World Cup 2010, Spain Vs. Switzerland: Dominant Spanish Go Quietly Into That Good Halftime

As usual, Spain dominated possession, and ultimate times they forced the Swiss defense to collapse. After the whistle blew ending the first half, those aspects become consolation when Switzerland and Spain went to their locker rooms drawn 0-0.

Spain is playing without Fernando Torres and the man who would mostly come into the lineup for him, Cesc Fabregas. Adjusting, Vincente del Bosque has started in a 4-5-1 formation, with Xabi Alonso getting a start in midfield.

That midfield led to 72 percent possession for the Spanish, but they’ve only been able to put three shots on Diego Benaglio.

For Switzerland, central defender Philippe Senderos has had to be subbed-off with a foot injury. Steven von Bergen has taken his place in defense.
