The Pittsburgh Penguins will open their new arena, the Consol Energy Center, with a preseason contest against the Detroit Red Wings on September 22. The team announced the news on Wednesday.
7 PM Start Times Coming To Pittsburgh In 2010-11
↵The bigger news in Pittsburgh today, however, is that the game on the 22nd will begin at 7:00 PM, as will all the rest of the games this season. The team will change its usual 7:30 PM home start times up to 7:00 PM, like most of the rest of the league. Believe it or not, there’s actually quite the debate on this.
↵Some teams opt for the 7:30 start time because it’s easier for people to get to the arena on time. It makes things easier on families with kids, for example. On the flip side, it’s an extra half hour to wait for game time each night, and it forces the game to end later, making those aforementioned kids (and some adults) late for bed time.
↵So, poll time! As a fan, do you prefer your team to start home games at the usual 7 PM start time, or are you in the 7:30 camp?
