New Redskins offensive tackle Jammal Brown played left tackle for the Saints. The Redskins, however, drafted Trent Williams with the fourth overall pick in the draft all but assuring themselves that he’d be the left tackle.
Jammal Brown Thinks He’s a Left Tackle But Confirms He Will Play Right Tackle For Redskins
Early reports indicated that Brown is likely to be a right tackle and he confirmed that on Sunday to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.
He told Maese that he still thinks he’s a left tackle but “I’m going to do what they want me to do.”
Of course he thinks he’s a left tackle. That’s the side that gets the big bucks and Brown is in line for an extension at some point within the next year. Those comment may hint that Brown realizes the financial distinction between the two sides. Perhaps that’s a reason why he hasn’t been given a long-term contract extension.
As we pointed out previously, he may actually be a better fit on the right side because he’s a better run blocker than a pass protector.
