France World Cup Team Refuses To Train

One day after striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home and rumors leaked of an altercation between stars Yoann Gourcuff and Franck Ribery, the France national team refused to train on Sunday, prompting team director Jean-Louis Valentin to resign, saying he was "sickened and disgusted."

The training session was stopped and player boarded the team bus after an altercation between coach Raymond Domenech and fitness coach Robert Duverne:

The team arrived at training Sunday, but a few minutes after taking the field fitness coach Robert Duverne stormed away from an argument with coach Raymond Domenech. Duverne threw his accreditation badge to the ground after the heated discussion and walked away.

The players then boarded the team bus.

In all likelihood, France has two days left in their 2010 World Cup campaign, their third group match taking place against South Africa on Tuesday. That gives Domenech, team captain Patrice Evra, and the now-overshadowed likes of Thierry Henry and William Gallas less than 48 hours to top this news. Les Bleus have now set the bar very high, and nothing less than abandoning Tuesday’s match may top today’s report.
