Magomed Shikshabekov Off Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum Card
M-1 Global welterweight Magomed Shikshabekov (6-0) was scheduled to make his STRIKEFORCE debut as part of the preliminary card.
Due to circumstances beyond the control of the fighter or M-1 Global, that visa will not be obtained in time for Shikshabekov to participate on the June 26th card.
This isn’t a huge hit to the card by any means. Shikshabekov is a talent who may amount to something in the future but his inclusion on the card was part of the attempt by M-1 to have more of their talent featured on Fedor cards. It also was a preliminary bout and if one thing has been established by Showtime it is that they do not broadcast undercard bouts no matter how much time they have left on the scheduled broadcast.
The real curiosity here is if M-1 will be upset by their decreased presence on yet another Fedor Emelianenko headlined card. This was supposedly the thing that caused the last re-negotiation between M-1 and Strikeforce.
We will continue to bring you news on Saturday night’s Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum card as it becomes available.
The currently scheduled card for broadcast is:
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum
-Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Jan Finney
-Cung Le vs. Scott Smith
-Josh Thomson vs. Pat Healy
