Chargers Are ‘Not Actively Shopping’ WR Vincent Jackson

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson has been the subject of many trade rumors and reports since he has declined to sign his restricted free agent tender.

Jackson is reportedly willing to sit out the entire 2010 season if he doesn’t get a new contract. He has also been suspended for the first three games of the season following two DUI arrests.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chargers are “not actively shopping him nor are they interested in dealing him.” Any trade, Schefter reports, is a “long shot.”

GM A.J. Smith won’t be bullied in this situation and giving into a trade for an unhappy player could set a bad precedent for the Chargers.

Smith has already said that the Chargers will miss Jackson should he choose to hold out the entire season indicating that they don’t plan to move him.

At this point, Jackson’s options would be to sign the tender and play or sit out.
