Percy Harvin Still Absent From Vikings Training Camp, Migraines ‘Believed’ To Be Part Of Problem

WR Percy Harvin left Vikings camp on July 31 due to the death of his grandmother. It's been nearly two weeks and 15 practices later and he's yet to return.

“I’m kind of flying in the dark a little bit,” Vikings head coach Brad Childress said. “I’ve talked to people up there, but I’ll let you know when I know something.”

In 2007, Childress came under criticism because he fined WR Troy Williamson a game check for missing a week’s worth of work while dealing with the death of his grandmother. He later changed his mind and didn’t fine him but clearly Childress understands he doesn’t want a repeat of that incident.

“The thing that I’ve learned is that everybody grieves differently,” Childress said Monday. “That’s just the fact of it. You’ve got to be able to respect that and appreciate that.”

It’s also believed, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, that Harvin is once again dealing with migraine headaches. They were a problem at times last year causing him to miss practice at times.

Migraines can be caused by stress -- like the death of a family member -- so the Star Tribune’s belief that its migraines makes sense on the surface.

The Star Tribune reports that Harvis is in Eden Prairie, MN at the moment.

Harvin’s been at Vikings camp for three practices but not since July 31.
