Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald caught a 16-yard pass from QB Matt Leinart and received a hard hit from Texans safety Eugene Wilson on Saturday night.
NFL Training Camp News: Larry Fitzgerald Likely Sitting Out Rest Of Preseason With Sprained MCL
Though he stayed in the game, Fitzgerald had to get an MRI afterwards. That revealed a sprained MCL in his knee.
The injury will keep him out the rest of training camp.
“They say they want to be careful with it so it doesn’t linger and...I’m ready to go for week one at St. Louis. It’s frustrating because I was having my best camp as a pro.”
Fitzgerald said his weight was down and he was looking forward to a monster year. He still is. “I will be fine and rehabbing and getting ready as fast as possible. Don’t write me off just yet.”
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said, “I think we know what Larry can do,” in response to the news that he’d be out until the regular season.
