Rumor has it that Nationals outfield Josh Willingham is facing season-ending knee surgery, and while it hasn’t been confirmed that the rest of his 2010 is shot, the team is preparing to take the first step:
Nationals Prepare To Place Josh Willingham On DL
The Nationals are going to place outfielder Josh Willingham on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a meniscus problem in his left knee, according to a baseball source.
The team is waiting until Thursday to make a move because center fielder Nyjer Morgan is eligible to come off the disabled list that day.
The only question now is whether Willingham has surgery before the end of the year, or after it. It is possible to play through his current injury, but it is by no means pleasant.
