Faced with injury concerns facing both Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin, the Vikings were forced to go looking for another option at receiver, should either or both of their starters be unavailable for the Week 1 NFC Title Game rematch in New Orleans.
Javon Walker Worth Anything Beyond A Waiver Pick-Up?
↵By any estimation, they made a bizarre choice in electing to sign Javon Walker, who hasn’t appeared in an NFL game in two years and hasn’t put together significant numbers since posting his second 1,000-yard season in 2006 while with the Broncos.
↵There’s the familiarity factor with Brett Favre, whom Walker played with for four seasons in Green Bay from 2002-2005. Of course, their ending was far more amicable. Favre publicly criticized Walker for a contract holdout prior to his final season with the Packer, which ended in the season opener after Walker suffered a torn ACL. So the rapport may not be as strong as it might appear on the surface.
↵At this point, Walker has to be viewed as highly suspect and only worth a roster stop if in fact both Rice and Harvin are likely to miss time at the beginning of the season.
