2010 Barclays, Second Round: Tiger Woods Reclaims Lead After Kevin Streelman’s 8-Under 63 Vaults Him Into Second Place

Little-known journeyman Kevin Streelman has vaulted near the top of the 2010 Barclays leaderboard after a scintillating 8-under 63 brought him just a stroke behind the slightly better known Tiger Woods.

Woods continues to lead the Barclays, at 8-under overall for the tournament. Woods is 2-under on the day through nine holes, with the relatively easier front half of the course still left.

Streelman, meanwhile, got off to a relatively benign start, playing his first five holes at even par. Streelman came through the turn at 2-under -- and then things got a little crazy. Streelman birdied five out of six holes after the turn, before cooling off with a pair of pars. Streelman finished his round with a flourish, recording a final birdie on the ninth hole, to momentarily give him a share of the lead (he began his day on the back nine).

Phil Mickelson will miss the cut after his 3-over 74 left him four shots over the projected cut line. Among other FedEx Cup leaders, Steve Stricker is in contention at 3-under for the tournament, while Ernie Els has some work to do to guarantee a spot in the weekend’s proceedings, as he is right at the cut line at even par.
