With the loss of second-round pick Ben Tate for the season because of injury, it appeared as though the Texans’ rushing attack would revert to the Arian Foster-Steve Slaton carousel that marked the end of 2009.
Arian Foster Makes His Case For Feature Back
↵At the time, that development might have been a doleful one for Texans fans, as neither Foster nor Slaton was truly able to distinguish himself as a worthy feature back for Houston’s otherwise potent offense. That might have changed based on the preseason that Foster has put together.
↵Foster on Saturday put up 110 rushing yards and scored a touchdown in the team’s preseason game against the Cowboys. While an average of roughly six yards per carry in the preseason isn’t going to perfectly translate to regular season action, it’s good enough to probably win Foster the job going into the season.
↵While Foster has been going earlier in drafts than Slaton, having generally thought to have the inside track for the job, he might not only have won it, but could be quite a steal for the owners who did take him.
