Minutes after handing Usain Bolt his first defeat in more than two years, American sprinter Tyson Gay made some comments that demonstrated a remarkable amount of pragmatism:
It’s somewhat unusual to see an athlete qualify his opponent’s condition, then claim that he will beat him when he’s at full strength, but that’s what Gay is doing here. Also worth noting: Gay terms Bolt’s 2010 as an “off year” even though Bolt has not lost a race this year, which speaks to how thoroughly Bolt has dominated this sport as of late.
