Tyson Gay Upsets Usain Bolt In 100m Final In Sweden

Usain Bolt is apparently human after all.

American Tyson Gay upset the world-record holder in the 100 meter-final at the IAAF Diamond League in Stockholm Friday evening, running a 9.84. Bolt finished second, with a 9.97.

To compare, Bolt ran the 100 m at the 2008 Summer Olympics in 9.69 seconds; Walter Dix won the bronze medal with a 9.91 in Beijing.

A pair of false starts delayed their much-hyped showdown Friday in Sweden, but when the race started, Gay jumped out to a quick lead and held of Bolt, who hadn’t lost since 2008.

Bolt still owns the world record of 9.58 seconds, while Gay has the second-fastest time at 9.68 (the American record).
