It’s the start of a gorgeous weekend here in central New York, with perfect weather in the forecast and the potential for “Have at it, boys” to return on the Watkins Glen International road course.

Personally, I’m just glad to be here after long day and night of travel delays.
I had hoped to catch a direct flight from Charlotte to Syracuse (about an hour and 45 minutes from the Glen) on Thursday afternoon, but after nearly three hours of sitting on the tarmac waiting out various weather delays, we returned to the gate and were told our flight was canceled.
Then the scramble was on. I opted for a later flight to Rochester, N.Y., which was also delayed but eventually departed for New York close to midnight. Though I made it safely and was happy to be in the same state as the race, my bag did not join me.
In spite of that, and although I’m wearing clothes from Wal-Mart today, I’m happy to have made it to the track.
