The ongoing contract drama between cornerback Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets has lingered to the point where Revis is likely to miss at least some time in the regular season. Which posits the question of just how far the Jets defense falls with his absence.
How Far Does The Jets Defense Drop Without Revis?
↵Not too dramatically, obviously. Rex Ryan’s attacking D is still likely to be among to the top scorers in the league, but with its shutdown corner missing and the other starting corner, Antonio Cromartie, having his hip problems acting up again, will that mean the Jets could be allowing ample passing yards?
↵With Revis gone, it’s possible that the Jets fall from a top five fantasy defense to a merely good one. The front seven is still going to get its sacks, but there’s a better chance offenses could be putting up more points on them. Conversely, an owner with a star receiver going against New York won’t be forced to consider the prospect of benching one of their top performers, at least so long as Revis Island remains in points unknown.
