Ryan Moore might well be entering a second phase of his golf career. But to truly make that leap, he’ll have to finish what he’s started at the BMW Championship.
BMW Championship, Round 3: Ryan Moore Fires 66, Earns One-Shot Lead
Moore shot a 5-under 66 in the third round to get to 8-under for the Championship, and will take a one-shot lead over Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, and Charlie Wi into the fourth round.
A win on Sunday could be very lucrative for Moore, who might qualify for the Tour Championship for the first time and would be in good shape to compete for the $10 million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup. Moore currently trails Kuchar, the points leader, by over 3,000 points, but hanging on for a victory at the BMW would earn him 2,500 points.
Meanwhile, Sunday will also reunite old rivals further down the leaderboard. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, both at even par, will play in the same group for the final round. It is the 26th time Woods and Mickelson have been in the same group in their careers.
