Jamaal Charles 56-yard touchdown run and Dexter McCluster’s 96-yard punt return were huge reasons the Kansas City Chiefs begin the season with a win over the hated Chargers.
Chiefs DE Tyson Jackson Injures Knee, Return To Game Questionable
During the third quarter, Chiefs DE Tyson Jackson was helped off the field with a left leg injury. He was able to put weight on the leg but doctors were looking at his knee on the sidelines. The team soon announced that his knee was indeed injured and his return to the game is questionable.

The Chargers opened the second half with two drives that sputtered around the Kansas City 40. On the third one, they didn’t even bother crossing mid-field to get it done. Rivers hit Legedu Naanee and the WR ran 59 yards for the score, cutting Kansas City’s lead to 21-14 with 2:23 to go in the 3rd quarter.
Naanee now has 98 yards and a TD on 4 catches. Rivers is 15 of 26 for 201 yards and 2 TDs.

The old dynamic duo are back again. Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates led a 60-yard San Diego drive that culminated in the first score of the night. First Rivers hit Gates for a 34-yard gain to bring the ball down to the five. A couple play later it was Antonio again in the endzone for a three-yard score.

The San Diego Chargers won’t be seeing the services of LB Shawne Merriman on Monday Night Football because he’s been ruled out with an Achilles’ injury. His absence was expected as he was listed as doubtful for Monday’s game.
Meanwhile Kara Henderson of NFL Network reports Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster will be a game-time decision.
