Brandon Jackson was the hot waiver wire commodity last week after the Packers lost Ryan Grant for the season. Those who did pick up Jackson didn’t get a ton of production out of their new back - he rushed for only 29 yards on 11 carries in the Packers win over the Bills, but did manage to reach the end zone once.
Larry Johnson A Fantasy Football Factor; Bad News For Brandon Jackson Owners?
↵Green Bay offensive coordinator Joe Philbin called the performance of the running game on Sunday “extremely mediocre.” Therefore, it seems likely that the team is going to be adding another back. It was rumored for a while that the team would pursue a trade for Bills back Marshawn Lynch, though there don’t seem to be many indications that that will actually happen.
↵However, another option emerged today when it was announced that the Washington Redskins released Larry Johnson. Johnson is hardly a thrilling option at this point in his career and may end up being scarcely better than Jackson or fullback John Kuhn. However, Green Bay did consider dealing for him last season when Johnson was still a member of the Chiefs, so there may be some lingering interest in his services. That could potentially pose a threat to Jackson’s status as the team’s top running option.
