The Oakland Raiders last week benched quarterback Jason Campbell in favor of Bruce Gradkowski. The move was made after Campbell had completed 8-of-15 passes with an interception against the Rams. Campbell had started Week 1 when the Raiders were blown out by the Titans, 38-13.

Gradkowski entered in Week 2 and led the Raiders to victory.
Raiders head coach explained his decision to go with Gradkowski.
“We are going to start Bruce Gradkowski at quarterback,” Cable said. “The reasons are pretty simple. I think there are two of them. First and foremost is the energy and the level of intensity that was brought into the huddle when he came into the game. They way the guys responded around him. And obviously scoring points. If you look back to the preseason, even at that time in the two games he came in he scored points.”
An important note is that Cable says this decision was made by him and the coaching staff. There was previously some chatter that owner Al Davis favored Campbell because he had just traded for him and that he would ultimately get his way.
If it’s true that Davis wanted Campbell, and Cable wanted Gradkowski, then the coach’s seat will get even hotter if Gradkowski doesn’t perform.
