Serbia cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands on Friday, opening up their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign by vaulting to the top of Group C. The Faroes drop to two losses in as many games, having already been defeated by Estonia last month.
Serbia got first half goals four minutes apart from Danko Lazokic and Dejan Stankovic to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Birmingham City’s Nikola Zigic scored late to give the Serbians their final margin of victory.
Serbia now awaits the result of Italy’s visit to Estonia and Slovenia’s match with Northern Ireland to see if they will stay top of the group at day’s end.
