After the team made indications that it was willing to shop receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the Seahawks cut the veteran on Saturday, casting him to an open market where there will be at least one team willing to accept his services.
Where Can T.J. Houshmandzadeh Have The Biggest Fantasy Impact?
↵Already, the Vikings and the Bengals, two teams that would seem like possible destinations for Houshmandzadeh have already said they aren’t interested. That would be credible news if only Marvin Lewis and Brad Childress didn’t also make inaccurate predications about Terrell Owens and Brett Favre earlier this offseason.
↵While the Bengals entered the offseason with a need at receiver and the Vikings have developed an immediate need of late, each team has done things to address that problem before Houshmandzadeh came on the market. While he could still help, that means Housh’s impact could be lessened if he winds up with either of those teams.
↵Meanwhile, the Redskins are a sensible destination for Housh, with little else after the veteran Santana Moss, the ancient Joey Galloway and the unproven Devin Thomas. With Malcolm Kelly going on IR, there’s an immediate need for the Redskins to sign a receiver. If it’s Houshmandzadeh, there’s a fair chance he could snag a starting job early.
