Fantasy owners might believe Ben Roethlisberger is a sure thing to return to the Steelers starting line-up once his suspension is lifted after four games, but head coach Mike Tomlin, appearing Tuesday on Sirius NFL Radio on Tuesday, said there’s no guarantee that Big Ben will be with the first team once he comes back.
Mike Tomlin Claims He’s Not Committed To Ben Roethlisberger Starting When He Returns
↵Of course, along with Roethlisberger not being named a captain of offense is an effort for the team to continue to outwardly punish their starting quarterback for persistent stupid behavior off the field. Most likely, it’s an effort to make sure that Roethlisberger isn’t trying to play nice until his suspension is reduced, then resume with his carousing.
↵So those who took Roethlisberger as their fantasy back-up, or perhaps a starter with another QB intended to cover the first five weeks, don’t worry too much about Tomlin’s comments. A few of Dennis Dixon’s inconsistent play should make the Steelers all-too happy with Roethlisberger’s return.
