NCAA Tournament Update: Clemson, West Virginia Tied At 40 Entering Second Half

We have our first halftime score of the 2011 NCAA Tournament with No. 12 Clemson and No. 5 West Virginia tied, 40-40. Clemson stormed out to a double-digit lead in the first 10 minutes of the half, before WVU finally got into the game, and put together a huge comeback, capped off with a 9-0 run to end the half.

There was some talk that the Tigers may be tired for having already playing one March Madness game in their Tuesday First Four domination of UAB. But the opposite seems to be true so far: Clemson has come out with more energy, and playing looser than the Mountaineers. Instead of tiring from having already played a game, Clemson appears to have settled into the Tournament a bit sooner than its opponent, and has built confidence from such a decisive performance on Tuesday. Despite that, the game is tied, but we could still see the Tournament’s first 12-5 upset.

The winner of this game goes on to play the winner of Kentucky vs. Princeton. You can view the full 2011 NCAA Tournament schedule here.
