You’ve had two weeks to pick a Super Bowl winner, and now it’s time to make the choice. But before you do, you might want to consider the wisdom put forth by some of the celebrities they talked to over at ABC this week. Like Mark Wahlberg, who offers up his take below.
Celebrity Super Bowl Predictions: Stars Make Their Picks For The 2011 Super Bowl Winner
“Not the Patriots, so I don’t care.”
Oh. Uh... Well what abou--
“Not the Patriots, so I don’t care.”
Okay, but if you had to choose...
“Not the Patriots, so I don’t care.”
With a gun to your head...
“Not the Patriots, so I don’t care.”
Okay, then. Way to fight the Boston sports fan stereotypes, Mark. Hey, did you hear he trained for over a decade to play the role of Mickey Ward? He was just dying to make that movie!
Lots more celebrity picks are after the jump.
Some, like Stan Musial, kept it simple. “Pittsburgh.” Yeah, kind of boring, but hey! Bet you didn’t know Stan Musial was still alive before reading this, so... He’s got that going for him!
Others, like Martina Navratilova, opted for the Packers. Her explanation: “Aaron Rodgers is too hot to handle.” And you know she’s talking about his playoff hot streak, because... Well, you know. Maya Angelou likes the Packers, too, in case you were wondering. Why?
“...because of the wonderful cheese and butter.”
Others, like Clippers star Blake Griffin, seemed to change their mind in the middle of making a prediction. “I think the Steelers’ defense is tough,” he said. “And they have so much experience. I want to say Packers,” he added, “so I’ll go with the Packers.”
My favorite celebrity pick comes from former CIA Director Mike Hayden, who went with Pittsburgh, and added, “What a matchup. Historic NFL franchises. Great defenses. Quarterbacks who can escape the rush. My head says it’s a tossup. My heart says Steelers. Either way, ya gotta love the fact that this game features teams with no cheerleaders and two of the smallest TV markets in the NFL!” The thing is, do you really have to love that this game features teams with no cheerleaders? I must have missed that memo. Either way, I like the enthusiasm!
Head over to ABC for the full cast of characters, including bad jokes and random sports cliches from the likes of Donald Trump, Shaq, Bill O’Reilly, Cal Ripken, Phyllis Diller, and Yogi Berra, who picked Green Bay, and added, “The best team should win and it could also be Pittsburgh.” So, there you have it, from the wise man, himself. You just can’t beat that insight.
