The Oakland Raiders have reportedly declined to pick up head coach Tom Cable's contract option, ending his tenure as Raiders' head coach. The Raiders are coming off their most successful year in recent memory, finishing the season at .500 with an 8-8 record. Oakland appeared to be heading in the right direction, but will now do so without Cable at the helm.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter Tuesday evening.

Cable was accused of punching assistant coach Randy Hanson in the face, fracturing his fracturing his jaw. No charges were filed after the incident.

The Raiders join the San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns in the search for a suitable head coach. According to Schefter, current Oakland offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is the favorite to take the head coaching job.
