On Friday, the fate of Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher was decided. The team has confirmed that its longtime coach will remain in his position for the 2011 season. The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt offers quotes from Fisher after the decision was made public:
Jeff Fisher Will Remain Titans’ Head Coach In 2011
Fisher statement: “Mr. Adams and I had a good talk about where we are as a football team. Clearly I am pleased with the news today.
More Fisher: “Presenting Mr. Adams with his first Lombardi Trophy is still the objective and I will continue to work for that goal.”
The 2011 season will be Fisher’s 15th with the Titans, extending the longest active head coaching tenure in the NFL. He has led the Titans to several playoff appearances and their only Super Bowl appearance, but the last two years have been disappointing. Fisher’s Titans barely managed to finish at 8-8 after a dreadful start, and animosity between Fisher and quarterback Vince Young led to Young’s departure and contributed to a 6-10 record in 2010.
