Last Friday, during a post-game handshake at the end of a high school football game in southern Ohio, a player apparently slipped a tack or other sharp object in his hand before shaking the hands of his opponents. Upon finding their hands had been punctured, the players received tetanus shots, and it appears that no serious injury or illness has been inflicted.
Ohio High School Players Pricked With Sharp Object During Post-Game Handshake
If you’d like to hear my thoughts on the matter, they’re after the jump.
- The authorities probably deserve a hand for being on top of the situation.
- If you think this is nothing but a harmless prank, you’re missing the point.
- The player who thought this up clearly isn’t too sharp.
- He probably thought he was James Bond, doing something sneaky like that. Well, take my word for it: he was no Pierce Brosnan.
- He should have known he would be caught. All it took was a little poking around.
- What a punk. Sure would like to see him get suspended for this. [THIS IS THE BEST ONE - ED.]The McClain High School players will just have to shake this one off.
- I know it could have been a scary situation, but I think everyone’s getting a little too tightly-wound about this.
- Nevermind one spoiled brat, fellas. Just go out there next week and stick to your game plan.
- Can you guess why anyone would want to do something like that? I can’t even take a stab at it.
- Anyone know how much trouble this kid is in? Jury’s out until we hear from school administrators, I guess.
- Alas, I rate this as one of the most shameful chapters in Ohio high school sports.
