The No. 3 Syracuse Orange knocked off the No. 9 Florida Gators in the Carrier Dome, 72-68. The Orange took a 31-27 lead into halftime after the Gators started out the game with a quick 7-2 lead. The Orange battled back thanks to an early 7 points by Fab Melo. The Orange battled back, going on a run to take the lead before the half.

The Florida Gators battled back in the second half, but the Syracuse Orange held on for the win thanks to some second half play by Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph.
The second half was more of the same even back and forth play. The Orange jumped out to a 39-30 lead and looked like they'd go on a big run but after a Florida time out, the Gators battled back and tied the game, eventually taking a short lived lead. The Orange guards however proved to be too much, as Scoop Jardine and forward Kris Joseph took over in the second half. Jardine ended the game with 16 points, most of which came in the second half, while Joseph ended with 14 points and 5 rebounds.
For the Gators, Kenny Boynton had another nice outing with 22 points while Erving Walker added another 17 points, including going five for nine from behind the three-point line.
