PHOTO: Antonio Margarito’s Eye Has Seen Better Days

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happen to Antonio Margarito, but it doesn’t make his eye look any less gruesome. Once again, Margarito walked away from the fight with a nasty looking right eye, and it resulted in the fight being stopped. In the ninth round of his Saturday night matchup, doctors put an end to the madness after Margarito’s eye swelled all the way shut, giving Miguel Cotto the TKO win.

There didn’t appear to be any visible cut around the eye, but it was in pretty terrible shape. From the looks of it, Margarito couldn’t see anything out of his right eye, though his left looked pretty good all things considered. It’s the small victories in life sometimes.

Seems like just yesterday Margarito was having this same problem. Oh, right: it kind of was. He fractured his orbital bone and suffered a brutal cut under his right eye in a fight against Manny Pacquiao last year, leading to photos just as gruesome.

Full coverage of the fight can be found over at MMA Nation.
