Marquis Daniels Carted Off On Stretcher After Sustaining Neck Injury

Boston Celtics reserve Marquis Daniels was carted off on a stretcher after sustaining a neck injury during the second quarter of his team's game against the Orlando Magic. Daniels' forehead slammed against the ground and he laid on the floor for several minutes. He eventually was lifted onto a stretcher and placed inside an ambulance. The team has announced that he is heading to a local hospital for an "evaluation" for a neck injury. The severity is not yet known.

Daniels had the ball on the right side when he tripped over Gilbert Arenas. As he tried to sweep the ball through, he lost his balance and his forehead hit the ground. It didn't appear that the contact was too serious at first glance, but it was serious enough to cause him to stay on the ground for several minutes. A hushed T.D. Banknorth Garden watched, concerned about his well-being. Eventually, Daniels was lifted into the stretcher. He was conscious and did provide a thumbs up as he left the floor.
