The Houston Dynamo apparently had a deal in place to acquire 21-year-old Mexican international Edgar Pacheco, but it fell through at the last minute when the Atlas winger decided he did not want to go to MLS. Pacheco has scored 12 goals in 82 matches with Atlas and one goal in two appearances with El Tri. Dynamo president of business operations Chris Canetti told MLSsoccer.com that Pacheco would have been the team's second ever Designated Player.

“We reached an agreement on terms with [Atlas] regarding the transfer fee and had a general agreement on his salary,” Canetti said.
Pacheco has been considered an up-and-coming players for several years and has been a regular starter at Atlas this year. He was last called into the Mexico national team on Feb. 9 against Bosnia-Herzegovina where he scored his first international goal.
“We liked his upside as a player, his youth and we liked his value on the transfer market in the future so, really, there was everything to like about the deal,” said Canetti.
