Shelvin Mack, the junior guard who helped lead the Butler Bulldogs to the Final Four in both 2010 and 2011, is opting to declare for the upcoming NBA draft. From ESPN's Andy Katz:
Shelvin Mack To Declare For NBA Draft, Will Not Hire Agent
According to [Butler coach Brad] Stevens, Mack will test the draft process between April 24 and May 8 to see where he would fall in the first round.
Mack, however, is not hiring an agent. Under NCAA rules, players who declare for the NBA Draft are eligible to return to their college teams, so long as they do not hire an agent. Players must also withdraw from the draft by May 8th in order to retain their eligibility.
During the 2010-11 season, Mack averaged 16 points per game for the Bulldogs, second on the team only to Matt Howard. Mack was the Bulldogs' assists leader, averaging 3.4 per game.
