Preview: Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Real Madrid, 2011 UEFA Champions League

I'd like to say that it's interesting that three of the four Champions League quarter-finals were over after the first leg. But it's not. It's really boring. Tottenham Hotspur host Real Madrid in which would normally be a huge European night out, but thanks to Spurs trailing 4-0 on aggregate and Madrid being a much better side, this is a foregone conclusion. Madrid will be looking to progress to their semi-final against Barcelona with a minimum of fuss or injury, and although both managers are claiming that Tottenham could still get into this tie, that's not happening. Ever.

Injuries and Suspensions

Peter Crouch is suspended for Tottenham after picking up the crazy red card in the first leg, while Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar are not expected to recover from knee and ankle injuries in time to make it back for the match. Tom Huddlestone and Younes Kaboul, on the other hand, are both fit and could feature, while Steven Pienaar could also return. Aaron Lennon is expected back in the squad as well.

For Madrid, Pepe is out thanks to yellow card accumulation and there are several players missing due to injury. Fernando Gago, Pedro Leon, and Lassana Diarra will all miss out, although there's some good news too: Karim Benzema is including in the squad after recovering from injury.

Time

First leg: 7:45 PM GMT (2:45 PM EST), Wednesday April 13th.

Expected Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur (4-4-1-1): Heurelhio Gomes; Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Michael Dawson, William Gallas, Sebastian Bassong; Gareth Bale, Tom Huddlestone, Luka Modric, Aaron Lennon; Rafael van der Vaart; Jermaine Defoe

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Iker Casillas, Marcelo, Ricardo Carvalho, Raul Albiol, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema.

Pick

Does it even matter? Real Madrid are probably going to score, and Tottenham are probably going to score more, but not by enough to get the win. Let’s go with Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Real Madrid
