So far, so good for Real Madrid. Well, mostly - they do have a slight blemish to their trip to White Hart lane already, as former Chelsea centre half Ricardo Carvalho has picked up a yellow card for sliding in on Aaron Lennon and will now miss the first leg of the probable semi-final against Barcelona. Tottenham have yet to score, although they've come close on several occasions, and 0-0 at half time means that they need to score four goals int he second half to take things to extra time.
Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Real Madrid, 2011 UEFA Champions League: 0-0 At Halftime
Spurs might consider themselves unlucky not to have one of those goals already, considering that they had three penalty shouts turned down, one goal disallowed for offside, and several goals never given because their collective finishing has been more erratic than Sedna's orbit (which is about where Roman Pavlyuchenko's shots end up). At least two of those penalty kicks could easily have been given.
All in all, if this match had been the first leg, it would be a pulsating tie. It’s end to end, exciting and Tottenham are outplaying their guests. It’s been a lot of fun to watch, but that 4-0 result at the Santiago Bernabeu is rather robbing it of the spectacle it deserves.
