While it's not a total surprise -- it's called day-to-day for a reason -- the St. Louis Cardinals are going to be cautious with Albert Pujols, keeping the slugger out of Tuesday's lineup because of a hamstring strain. From ESPN's Brian Stull:
Albert Pujols Injury Keeping Him Out Of Tuesday Lineup
Cardinal sources have shared Pujols will not play tonight; precautionary for his hamstringWhile the Cardinals are still optimistic that the first baseman won’t have to go on the disabled list, any time there’s a scratch on the best player of his generation, it’s worth keeping an eye on the situation.
The only other Cardinals who have logged innings at first base this season are David Freese and Lance Berkman, who would probably be a better fit at first rather than in the outfield, though his red-hot start has made such concerns irrelevant.
Pujols was off to a slow start this season before heating up, with a .333/.377/.729 line and six home runs over his last 48 at-bats.
