Mexican Primera, 2011 Liguilla Semifinals: Cruz Azul-Monarcas Morelia, Pumas UNAM-Chivas Guadalajara, Second Legs

All four remaining teams in the 2011 Clausura’s Liguilla have to feel like they still have a great shot to advance, but after the first legs of the two semifinals, clear favorites have emerged. Pumas UNAM got a 1-1 draw at Estadio Onmilife against Chivas de Guadalajara on Thursday, while Cruz Azul defeated Monarcas Morelia 2-0. It seems to set up a final between Pumas and the Blue Machine, but this is the Mexican Primera, and nothing is ever set in stone. Expect the unexpected tonight.

Pumas UNAM vs. Chivas Guadalajara

Sunday, 1 pm ET

After a poorly officiated first leg in which two players were sent off, let's hope that this game is more about the players on the field than the referee. Hector Reynoso was the man who saw red for Chivas, and his suspension in addition to Johnny Magallon's injury means that Chivas are seriously thin at the back. Pumas will be thin as well, as they had David Cabrera sent off in the last game. Kristian Alvarez and Jehu Chiapas were the men who came in as replacements for the sent off players on Thursday, and they could both get starts tonight.

Monarcas Morelia vs. Cruz Azul

Sunday, 9 pm ET

Morelia have done well to get this far, as they were picked by virtually no one as a contender to start the season, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be satisfied with their semifinal appearance. They’re actually a better road team than home team, so their chances of getting through don’t look too great after a 2-0 loss at Estadio Azul. However, Cruz Azul are the kings of the epic choke.
