Barry Bonds Offers To Provide College Education For Children Of Attack Victim Bryan Stow

The long-term outlook for Bryan Stow, the fan who was critically beaten and left in a coma at Dodgers Stadium nearly two months ago, is still uncertain. Joining the massive outpouring of goodwill following the attack is Barry Bonds. The retired Giants slugger has offered to pay for the college educations of Stow’s children, who are currently in grade school.

↵↵Stow family attorney Thomas Girardi said that former slugger Barry Bonds has donated to pay for their college education. He said the family has talked about turning other donations back to the fans if [their lawsuit against the Dodgers] is successful, but said the gift of a college of education is something they treasure and will keep.

↵↵A terrific gesture from Bonds. He may have earned a reputation as a surly jerk during his playing days, and he may have been the most prolific of a generation of rule-breakers, but evidence suggesting that he is a caring, empathetic human being should surprise no one.
