It's been a rough month for Chicago Cubs fans. Well, it's been a rough century, but this last month has been especially tough for the Cubs as far as injuries are concerned. The entire team is composed of Spinal Tap drummers, apparently. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez was the latest player to go down, as he was hit in the face by a hard grounder off the bat of Chris Johnson:
Aramis Ramirez Leaves Game After Taking Ground Ball To The Face
Ramirez stayed down after getting struck, and the Cubs' training staff quickly attended to him. He left the fielder under his own power, though he had a towel over his face to staunch the bleeding. The Cubs say that he's day-to-day with a lip laceration. It was an uncomfortable injury to watch, especially after Marlon Byrd was hit in the face with a pitch less than two weeks ago.
The Cubs are so short-handed that they completely invented a player who didn’t exist before, D.J. LeMahieu, to take over for Ramirez in the game.
