Jose Bautista Injury: Slugger Day-To-Day With Twisted Ankle

Everybody can breathe a sigh of relief now, opposing pitchers excepted. After sustaining an injury Thursday night against the Yankees, Blue Jays superstar Jose Bautista appears to be okay. Marc Carig:

Twisted right ankle for Bautista. He’s day to day.

Bautista went down after sliding into third base, but he actually initially tweaked his ankle running to first. Sliding into third just put things over the top, as he twisted the ankle and had to come out. I suppose we could’ve guessed from the fact that he walked off on his own that nothing was too bad, but it’s nice to have confirmation.

Bautista probably won’t play on Friday, and given that the Jays are presently ten games behind the Yankees, they have little reason to rush their star back before he’s ready, but it shouldn’t be long before he’s right back in the middle of the order, restoring imbalance.
