Jabar Gaffney Traded From Broncos To Redskins For Jeremy Jarmon

The Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos have combined on the first trade of the 2011 NFL offseason, sending wide receiver Jabar Gaffney to Denver for defensive end/outside linebacker Jeremy Jarmon. Gaffney is the third wide receiver Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has signed in the past 24 hours, after the team re-signed Santana Moss and signed Donte' Stallworth.

Jarmon had fallen out of favor with the Redskins after they moved to a 3-4 defense and he was forced into more of an outside linebacker role. After appearing in 11 games as a rookie, he made just five appearances last season, and didn’t make a start. He has only made 11 tackles in his career.

The Redskins will be Gaffney’s fourth team as he gets ready to enter his 10th season. He is coming off a career year in which he appeared in all 16 games, made 11 starts and caught 65 passes for 875 yards. All those were career-highs.
