Drayton Florence has decided to re-sign with the Buffalo Bills, who apparently won a bidding war with the New York Jets. The contract is supposedly worth about $15 million over three years.
Drayton Florence Re-Signs With Bills, Reportedly 3 Years, $15 Million
Re-signing Florence was always considered a top priority of the Bills after he had a second consecutive stand out season. Since signing with the Bills prior to the 2009 season, Florence has made 27 starts and knocking down 26 pass attempts. Last year, he also intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown.
The Bills had already lost linebacker Paul Posluszny to the Jacksonville Jaguars after he signed a five-year deal. Florence was considered one of the top 10 cornerbacks on the free-agent market, and seems to have fully recovered from a disastrous 2008 campaign in which he started only eight games and was released. He had signed a six-year, $36 million deal prior to the 2008 season.
