The Philadelphia Eagles and former Tennessee Titans DE Jason Babin have agreed to a five-year deal in another move for one of the busiest teams in the abbreviated offseason. The deal is reportedly worth $28 million.
Eagles, Pro Bowl DE Jason Babin Agree To Five-Year Deal
Babin will reunite with his defensive line coach from last season Jim Washburn, who coached him to his first Pro Bowl last season.
"(Washburn) was a big part of the process," Babin told The Associated Press on Thursday. "What he did for me was two-fold. He believed in me and gave me an opportunity to play and he allowed me to play the way I wanted. He saw the potential in me."
In 2009, Babin, 31, played for the Eagles and notched only 2.5 sacks. Last year, however, he collected 12.5 quarterback scalps, and was lucky enough to break out the year after the Pro Bowl’s failed trip to Miami.
Babin will shore up a pass rush that suffered a big blow when former first round pick Brandon Graham was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday in relation to a knee injury suffered last season.
