San Francisco 49ers wide receiver will land on the Physically Unable to Perform list with a foot injury. Crabtree reportedly injured his foot during unsupervised NFL lockout workouts, though the extent of his foot ailment has been downplayed. With Thursday's announcement that he'd be placed on the PUP list, it appears Crabtree's foot may be in worse shape than most expected, and the injury has lingered.
Michael Crabtree Injury: San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver On PUP LIst With Foot Problem
Crabtree is still supposed to be ready for the regular season, but it still isn’t clear exactly what the injury is, and it’s been lingering for a while - he initially aggravated the injury during players-only practices on June 9, and he’s had foot issues before that. It’s not clear exactly what the nature of the injury is this time. Obviously, it’s going to be tough enough for players to get ready for the season, and even if Crabtree is healthy in time for the season to start, he might not be in the best shape by then.
In his absence, Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn will become the 49ers main receivers, unless they acquire a free agent.
Crabtree had 741 yards receiving in his sophomore season for the 49ers last year.
