Foot injuries continue to be a problem for the 49ers’ Michael Crabtree and it could keep him out throughout the entire preseason.
Michael Crabtree’s Injury Could Keep Him Out Until Regular Season
It doesn’t appear that Crabtree’s foot injury will be a long-term issue but Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that he may not step into uniform until the regular season opener.
The 49ers start the season on Sept. 11 so that’s a little over a month for him to prepare for the regular season opener. At this point, it’s probably best to just hold him out until then instead of rushing it and possibly causing more damage to the injury.

Crabtree is still supposed to be ready for the regular season, but it still isn’t clear exactly what the injury is, and it’s been lingering for a while - he initially aggravated the injury during players-only practices on June 9, and he’s had foot issues before that. It’s not clear exactly what the nature of the injury is this time. Obviously, it’s going to be tough enough for players to get ready for the season, and even if Crabtree is healthy in time for the season to start, he might not be in the best shape by then.
Crabtree had 741 yards receiving in his sophomore season for the 49ers last year.
